Pace Yourself
You've heard it all before, people. Whether you heard those corny speeches in early high school about people explaining time and how it rules our life because they couldn't think of anything else to say, or simply how there isn't enough time in your daily routine, listen to what I have to say. I hope I don't sound like a total nutter -- but the fact remains that I am.Anyway, time. You know it, and you live by it. I live by it -- sometimes. But, from everything I have done and observed in my life, I realize that you have to do things at your own pace. You can't let time or your future trouble you with how you want to decide on who you are. Sure, deciding how you are early on in life gives you a sense of stability and a sure future in the scheme of things, but will it make you as happy as you can be in the end? It could. However, there are those out there that are at time's whip and are being pushed on to decide their futures before their goals come to them.
In society today, we are pressured into the work world as soon as possible. We are bred and taught to, one day, 'work, work, work'. However, you can't let society push you around, and thus time. You as a person have your own unique way of doing things and accomplishing tasks, and if you don't know what you want to do out of high school, don't be afraid! Set your own pace to your life, and do not let people call you an underachiever. The fact is, you may not have found your calling yet.
I would recommend, then, to explore your options, both figuratively and literally. Travel the world, see new places! Experience the wonders of the world and the awesome people and cultures of the globe. Discover for yourself new ideas and ways of thinking and pursue your passions. Unlike those who have decided upon what they want to do with the added help of pressure from society and time, you pace yourself and think about it while you experience the awesomeness that is known to us as the world.
Pace yourself. Take life slowly, or live in the moment, or plan ahead; whatever it may be, I encourage you to find your own pace and do your best to live at that pace. We are all awesome, unique people who have the potential to do great things at one point or another, and it is not up to time (which is society's god-child) to tell you when you must make your choice on how you want to define yourself in our world. Live the moment as your moment, at your own pace.
I hope this makes sense. Any clarification that's needed -- well, just ask!
