The Test of the She-Wolf

I read about wolves some time back.  They of course live in packs, and the head of the pack is the Alpha-Male.  Sometimes, a pack of wolves finds itself without an Alpha-Male, who was killed perhaps in a fight with a rival, or more likely killed by some cruel ignorance of humans.

There are drifting male wolves who aspire to be Alphas, but have left their pack because the incumbent Alpha is too strong to defeat.  So alone they drift to find a pack in need of an Alpha.  He may or may not find such a pack.  If he doesn’t, he likely dies, as no wolf can survive a winter alone.

But if he does find a pack?  Well, that’s just the beginning.

Enter the She-Wolves of the Alpha-less pack.  They are immediately aware of and riled up by the scent and presence of this stranger in their territory.  They are agitated.  They find him, surround him, and expose their angry teeth to him.  You don’t mess with a She-Wolf.
If he runs, if he cowers, if he flinches, if he shows one sign of submissive body language, the She-Wolves are on him immediately, killing him and tearing his flesh to shreds.

BUT……..

If he stands firm, fearless, and shows not even the slightest concern over their threats, the She-Wolves are calmed, and approach him gently to welcome him as their new Alpha.

The She-Wolves are not cruel, they are compassionate.  They test the male in this way because they care deeply about their pack, about their cubs, about their fellow She-Wolves.  The cannot afford to entrust their  pack and their cubs’ future to a weak male.

What I love in nature is that everything is fair in it. Want to have she wolves be strong enough to protect them and their cubs.

Agree Marina!!! I know there have been numerous discussions about love, passion, relationships, etc. here on Educopark. There's one thing that I've never read though.... That is, for some men and women, the biggest turn-off is weakness. Weakness can be thought of in so many ways, but when I use the word, here's what weakness looks like to me.
- Being afraid try something new because you know you'll be a beginner at it.
- An inability to look someone in the eye.
- Being unhappy with another and instead of discussing it with them, waiting til later to grumble about it.
- Bullying or dominating someone just because they are vulnerable... instead of helping to strengthen them.
- Spending more time self pitying than improving.
- Bragging about oneself instead of the one you're talking to.
- Seeing your world as "me" instead of "we".
- Seeing yourself as a victim of your circumstances instead of a competitor in a hurdle race.
- Being jealous of, rather than happy for, the successes of those around you.
- Being a drag on your friends and family, instead of a protector and inspiration.
- Being able to love someone who, because of their weakness, screams "I hate you!"

Tough standards, but good ones I think... When I meet them, I'm happy, when I don't, I know what to work on. I can, and do, love weak people, but I could never put them in charge of something/someone important to me. GO SHE-WOLVES!!!
