“Treat good to even bad people” or “How I almost hit a little boy with a door in a subway!”

It is short yet very valuable life lesson which occurred to me past week.

One day I was riding the subway to job. The weather was beautiful: the spring has come in to Ukraine and my mood was great! So, I anticipated the great rest of a day.

The train stopped. I stepped to the platform and I walked to the door, which detaches the subway platform from the “outer world”. In Kyiv the subway doors can be opened in two ways: forward and back. It’s quite handy: you can open the door to any direction (I usually open it forward ;). However, other people beside you should be careful - they can be hit with door, going from forward to back by inertia. To prevent this, people in front usually hold back the door, so that people behind could easily catch it.

So, I was heading to one of such doors when saw the young man. He was trying to start smoking when suddenly throw his tobacco pack right to the platform! I thought that guy was slightly tight, since in a few moments he stood before the door I was heading to, not allowing me to go! I was ready to burst: “What? Except this guy litters, he also brakes other people!” With these thoughts in mind, I was ready to push him by force to the door, when guy opened it by himself.

I went after him into the door and was so angry at him that threw open the door with all my force and… forgot to hold it back! I came to in a moment, seeing as the door flies, ready to face the little boy’s nose behind me! Fortunately, due to incredible efforts of little boy’s grandma who put forward her hand and me who was in time to hold back the door’s fly a little, the boy’s nose was rescued!

Poor grandma could only squeeze out: “Thank You!” :)

From that situation I’ve drawn out the following lesson: “No matter whether people behave well or not so well – it’s important for me treating well to all of them! (Otherwise the good and innocent people may suffer ;)”

And I think the easiest way to safely treat other people who do the ‘bad’ things is just take pity of them: “Poor guy, since he is a litterbug, probably apartment where he lives, is also dirty. So, probably mice live there as well and they ate his breakfast. Therefore he is hungry and retards. Poor-poor guy…”

Now, did you have such experience in your life when innocent people suffered from your reaction to the bad deeds of others?
